Who We Are

The National Association for State Community Services Programs (NASCSP) is a professional association whose members are state administrators of the Community Services Block Grant Program (CSBG) and the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).  NASCSP is the premier national organization advocating for state leadership who implement weatherization and antipoverty programs.

The NASCSP vision calls for the empowerment of low-income families. NASCSP helps states attain full utilization of resources to implement an extensive array of services to families.  These include weatherization, energy assistance, child care, nutrition, employment, state energy programs, job training, asset development, and housing in urban, suburban and rural communities.

What We Do
We increase state capacity to respond to energy and poverty issues; NASCSP works with membership to provide the following:
  • NASCSP is the voice for state interests regarding CSBG and WAP legislative issues.
  • NASCSP hosts two annual conferences, regional trainings, and webinars.  All training is led by experienced peer administrators.
  • NASCSP is the sole provider of orientation training for new state CSBG and WAP administrators.
  • NASCSP customizes on-site consulting sessions.
  • NASCSP creates opportunities for networking and information sharing.
  • NASCSP shares current information through email, listservs, newsletters, conference calls and webinars.
  • NASCSP provides a forum for federal policymakers and industry experts to educate state staff.
  • NASCSP worked to standardize state grantee programmatic and financial monitoring principles and protocols.
  • NASCSP rallies support and timely information for any member state facing a challenging program issue.
  • NASCSP is the central information source on the results of state antipoverty efforts.
